How to install NMAP on your Debian based distros?

In this article we will take alook on how to install NMAP tool on your Debian based distros such as ubuntu,lubuntu,kbuntu,...etc.

 

in order to start installing NMAP you need to check if your system is up-to-date, you can check that by typing the commands below in your terminal (ALT+T):

 

~$ sudo apt-get update

~$ sudo apt-get upgrade -y

 

when this finish you will be able to install NMAP on your debian without adding any repositories to your sources,list file, which you can find under "/etc/apt/sources.list".

To start installing NMAP on debian you need to type the command below into your terminal (ALT+T):

 

~$ sudo apt-get install nmap -y 

 

when this is done you check if NMAP working by typing the command below into your terminal:

 

~$ nmap --version 

 

if you got something like this it means it works.

 

Nmap version 7.40 ( https://nmap.org )
